UNRWA Commissioner-General Karen Abu-Zayd says institutions affiliated with the Palestinian movement of Hamas are free of corruption.
Hamas is 'more popular than ever' among the people of Gaza and no corruption can been found in its institutions, said the Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees on Sunday.
She also commented on the humanitarian situation in the coastal strip caused by the Israeli blockade and said that Gazans are gripped with a daily battle to survive.
“The siege of Gaza has deprived its people of fuel, crippling all aspects of their lives,” she said.
Abu-Zayd added that the Gaza siege has devastated Gaza's private sector by blocking fuel supplies and halting exports, leaving over 75,000 Palestinians without work since June 2007.
